After I shower, I put in a leave in conditioner. I run my hands through my hair in the process and every time I run my hand through my hair, I get at least five strands of hair in my hand. Is this because my hair has been chemically treated too much or just that everyone's hair is weaker when wet? When my hair is dry, I can tug on my hair and absolutely no strands of hair come out. What can I do to make my hair Significantly stronger and tohave less breakage?
When my hair is wet.. I can litterly tug my hair and strands fall out.. Is this normal?
First off, hair loss is normal. We normally lose under 100 strands per day. But, if you are clogging up the drain every day, there might be a problem.
Many people abuse their hair on a daily basis, then wonder why it falls out. I have been down-thumbed on this many times, but I am a 43 year old man who has all of his hair....hmmm, I must be doing somethng right.
Abuse means loss of hair. Many people shampoo everyday, then condition, add other things, mousse, blow dry, straighten, curl, and use other brutal torture instruments every day. Then, they ask why their hair is falling out.
In addition, stress and hormones can also affect this. Friends of mine who were having irregular cycles also reported proplems with hair loss.
Wash your hair daily, but use shampoo only 3-4 days a week. I know women hate to hear this because they think that is not "clean", but the natural oils produced protect our hair. Shampoo strips them away. Hair has been around millions of years before soap.
Stop abusing the hair and you will keep more of it.

My hair does it especially in the summer.

I'm no scientist but I think since your hair is treated and because it is weaker when it is wet is why you are pulling out hair. It is normal to pull out some hair every day though. I have heard that everyone sheds 100- 1000 hairs a day. Just don't pull on your hair. Your brush can take care of that.

It's completely normal... not because it is chemically treated but because everyone's hair is weaker when it is wet. Your hair already sounds sufficiently strong.

Maybe you're just shedding. ;)
Or, maybe because you wash your hair, you're loosening up hair that is weak/dying, and getting ready to fall out, too. I would say that chances are the hair(s) is/are already dead or dying and fall out because you're cleaned it, which would make room for new hair growth.

My hair does it and I have no color in mine. I think it may be normal.

It happens to me too. I heard somewhere that the average person loses between 40-100 strands of hair a day. So I guess it's normal.

My hair does the exact same thing, it is perfectly normal. When water is pouring on your head, the dead hair falls out. The average amount of hair that dies every day is 100 to 150 strands!! When the dead hair stays on your head it is very bad for your healthy hair. Every time you brush your hair you should grab it afterwards and run your hand down it to get out all of the dead strands.
Hope I helped!!!!!
