The point Dalin Oaks is making is that perceptions and misinterpretations can confuse and hurt a person's effectiveness and first impression in our modern society.

In a society where clean cut seems more professional and conservative, it is no wonder that the Mormons want their missionaries and leaders to maintain a clean shaved appearance.

First of all, Mormons do not believe Jesus had any sins.

Second , thank goodness I shaved. I did not know I was sinning when I grew my beard. Most people even told me they liked my beard.
