i have remington straighteners 230 degrees they are really good as i have really thick hair but after i straighten my hair, it leaves my hair smelling burnt and horrible and its put me off straightening my hair but i need to straighten my hair so i look pretty lol! so can anyone tell me how to get rid of the smell as the straighteners are new! i have tried everything like washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner using gel and mousse also hairspray! even when i wash my hair it still spells burnt and is left in for days! and i do straighten my hair every day!! please help

you should minimize the amount of times you straighten your hair, like if you're not going anywhere then dont straighten it and on some school days you can just put your hair up in a ponytail. you can also just buy a new straightner. my hair is just like yours it sounds like, b/c my hair is naturally straight but its so thick so it looks like a poof ball. so i always straighten my hair to make it look thinner. i have a straightener thats made by a company called jilbere. its really really good. its titanium and i can straighten my hair in like 20 minutes. thats saying something b/c my hairs really long too.

Are you new to straightening your hair? It always stinks after straightening it. My sisters does, my girlf's does. Watch your speed, and how much pressure you're applying, I think is the only advice I've ever picked up. Having a skin-head, I cant be much more use I'm afraid! Goodluck ;-)

Are you using a serum or heat resistant spray in your hair before using the straighteners? You really need to do that,as not using it will cause your hair to burn and become damaged.

i have the remmington wet to straight about 375 degrees. my hair doesnt smell burnt afterwords %26amp; i have really think curly hair. i think its because of the vents at the top? maybe its because of your type of staraightener.

if your hair smells burnt then you are leaving the straightener to long on your hair. Chi is the best straightener. try straightening smaller parts of your hair so that it straightens faster and it wont be as damaged.

Instead of gel or hairspray, try a hair serum, or a heat shield product that's made to protect your hair from the heat. You may be getting that smell from using products with a lot of alcohol in them.

You need to use hair stightening products on your hair,not only do they protect your hair from the heat but they also take away that awfull smell whilst staighting your hair.Theres plenty to choose from and you just spray onto the hair before starting to straighten.Most chemists etc sell them aswell as your salon.

What products do you use in your hair when you are about to straighten it? Is your hair completly dry??? I use to have the remington straightner, but I got rid of it and got me a titanium and it does sooo much better!! You should try it!

I've never had this happen, but I'm thinking possibly you are actually burning your hair. Does your hair look burned or damaged in places? Have someone check in the light for you. If your appliance is new then take it back and get another one, maybe this one is damaged in some way.

the smell of burning hair is common with heat tools. after lots of use, the plates on the hair straightener itself will begin to smell and when you use it to straighten your hair, the smell just transfers to your hair. you should clean the plates, if possible, and decrease the temperature that you're heating them to.

It is good to use a serum, try Kerastase, it is pricey but works great. Also the best straightners are either by Elchim or Chi, they are both great, i use to work at a salon and that was what they were using.

might be something wrong with the straightener, it shouldn't be burning you hair, have you tried a different pair. borrow some of a fiend and see if the same thing happens, or you might be leaving your hair in too long .

Hi some do this I notice i could smell that it smelt burnt when it was a cold day and i come in from out side. I just got some ghds and they dont do this to me, or it could be i use a heat protection spray. I use the ADSA one it smells of apples and you can spray it on dry hair before you straigten it so maybe this will work for you. I dont know what else you can so other than change your hair straigtners.

i also use hair straighteners every day and find that the tresseme hair straightening spray is great! put it on before you straighten it and also spray a bit once you have done it. helps to stop them ruining your hair because it stops your hair drying out x

maybe you have the heat too high or you need to buy a new straightener. It is really bad to straighten your hair everyday, you are damaging your hair and stressing it out. if you are not careful, it could all fall out (has happened to a couple of girls i know). Also straight hair shouldn't make you look pretty, you are probably just a pretty girl. you might want to go to a professional stylist once a month to treat your hair and ask them how to keep your hair straight permanently. I suggest you leave your hair in it's natural state, it's more healthy that way.
