Are hair straighteners permanent?

I have this friend with a mane of long, gorgeose, really tight corkscrew curls. I think they're to die for, but she allways says that she wishes her hair could be strait for just one day to see what it looks like. Her hair is the curliest head I've ever seen, and with strait hair she'd look like a completly different person. Anyway we have a really good quality hair straightener, and I think it would be fun like at a sleep over to straighten my friend's hair temporarily to see what she would look like. It's just a hair straitener with no chemicals or anything.

However, it would be a nightmare if her curls didn't come back for a while. Her mom would kill me. Would straightening this girl's hair be a safe thing to do? Would her curls come back the next time she would wash her hair? I have pretty strait hair so I have no idea what cork screw curls tend to do.

Are hair straighteners permanent?

a flat iron will work just fine (that is what you're talking about right?) it will last until she gets out into some humidity or washes it. her hair will go back to the way it was and no one would ever know the difference.

a chemical straightener is totally different, but i think you know that.

when you flat iron it the best way is to section the hair out. i always start in the back with th bottom. be prepared it's going to take at least an hour to get it all if her hair is long and thick.

Are hair straighteners permanent?

NO!!!

They are NOT permanent. After an year or so, one has to undergo the treatment again.

i straighten my hair every single day. my hair is very curly by nature. it always...always will come back when wet..i absoluelty hate the rain. but yes her beautiful locks will come back...make sure you have a good quality straightner, or else her hair will look like sh!t...sriously...a professional straightening iron...wonders...

Are hair straighteners permanent?

hair striaghteners arent permanent. it lasts abt a couple of hrs depending on which mouse/holding spray u use. it also dissipates under hot weather or precipitation. hair striaghteners are also safe if u know how to use one.

but if she wants it a little more permanent, i suggest japanese straightening. that lasts much longer, id say more than a yr.

but u know what. curly hair is awesome and i wish i had that kinda hair =/ so let her get it striaghened with a straightener.

Hair dying help?????

I am stupid and against what my friends (who is a hair dresser) saying so I decided to perm my natural wavy/curly hair for easier styling...well turns out its not easier and has killed my natural PRETTY curl. So then because I hated my hair I decided to highlight my hair (never had any type of dye in it before) and how those are growing out and I hate it. My friend that does my hair says that perm pulls your color out of your hair (even with natural hair that has never been dyed?? Is that true) and thats why my out growth looks so bad. So what I have planned to do is dye all of my hair as close to the natural color as I can get it and then let my hair grow out to get all the color and perm out. Remember I've only permed my hair once and highlighted once so I dont no much about hair and dying. Does this sound like a good plan? Can you even really get close enough to your real hair color to not have bad out growth? I know this is a lot of questions, but please I'm not a girly girl

Hair dying help?????

You should see a professional hairstylist at a salon to fix it. They match your color pretty well so it looks normal. It seems pretty pricey, but it probably look better than what you have now. Good luck!

Hair dying help?????

I think your friend the hair dresser could answer all of your questions.

Hair dying help?????

okay i am not a GIRLY GIRL eaither but i used to dye my hair all the time really like once a month umm i think if you get a certain type of hair dye then youi might get it to look better i think's it nice and easy true color shine or something along those lines....... well i am off to answer more questions later

Hair dying help?????

okay first don't try and dye your hair again? whats the point if you are tryin to get rid of the first dye? waste of time and money. im afraid all you can do is wait this one out. until then, pull your hair up, put in ribbons, anything to make it look better. sorry gurl!!

Hair dying help?????

yeah you can color your hair close to your natural color, but depending what kind of results you want you could do several things. Like if you want you hair back to normal then I would color it as close as you can get to your natural color and then I would wait a week or two and go get your hair chemically straightened ( DO NOT DO THIS AT THE SAME TIME%26lt; YOUR HAIR WILL FALL OUT) but it is safe to do if you wait. and then your hair will be straight and your natural color, or you could straighten it first then color it whichever you want. I totally know how it feels to have hair you hate. It sucks!

Help in hair do's? Straight, layer'd hair...?

I am big time lazy with my hair. I sometimes don't even comb it. I am also very cautious with my hair, I love it. It is long, black, super shiny, fine, long layer'd. I have been told my hair is "movie star hair"... shiny and pretty. I like simple and natural... So Cali beach bum. I just got back from a hair cut... they shortened the layers dramatically, but still long.

My question or need of help in is... the stylist straightened the layers with a straightening iron... made my hair even better looking. I don't want to apply heat or products to my hair. The products I do use is a serum to protect ends... Any suggestions on how I can do my hair, learn to do my hair... without ruining it?

I need major help, I really don't do anythign to it.

Reg hair cutting for young girls?

Nowadays I see lot of parents cut their young girl's hair. Even I see school going girls only one in 100 have long hair with beautiful plait. We also have 2 girls at our home. These girls have below waist length hair. We thouhgt to cut her hair to bob or boy cut. We went to one male barber shop and asked him to cut our girls hair. The barber simply cut her long hair but he couldn't give her the desired look moreover his hair cut was bit rusty. If we go to ladies beauty parlour it will be quite costly. So I decided to cut our girl's hair at home only. For second girl I had myself opened her plait and neatly cut her long hair. In fact I made her a short bob cut. Please advise me that can I cut our girl's hair at home only. I generally cut at night only at around 11 p.m. It is calm time where I can think and cut her hair. Now I want to cut my wife's hair at home. Please tell me can I cut my wife's hair. I also want to shave her legs and arm pits. Can I do at home. Please advise?

Does coloring my hair has any side effetcs???i mean hair loss, dryness, decrease in the hair volume???

I'm a stylist. Coloring your hair is perfectly fine. If you are afraid of it damaging your hair, ask your stylist to use a DEMI PERMANENT color on your hair. It has no harsh chemicals and will last for 4-6 weeks and leave no "roots" showing. or at least it shouldn't. If you like having the permanent color it can be applied every 6 weeks or so depending on how fast your hair grows. Most color should add volume to your hair not decrease it. Hair color does not create hair loss. Hair loss comes from genes or stress. Color may dry out your hair but if you get conditioner that is good for your hair or even a protein pack from Sally's Beauty Supply it will strengthen your hair right back up. You can color your hair about 6 times a year or more depending on your hair texture. What do you mean that a bit of charm has disappeared? If your hair is still healthy and beautiful then there is nothing wrong with coloring it. And finally yes.. go to a professional to get color. The ingredients in box color range anything from propane to acrylic (which is used to create "fake" fingernails) Good luck and i hope this advice helps!!!

Does coloring my hair has any side effetcs???i mean hair loss, dryness, decrease in the hair volume???

I am not a hair stylist or hairdresser but I colour my hair. Colouring your hair makes it dry unless you use conditioners on it and often. Colouring doesn't necessarily break your hair but you should never bleach on top of bleach because it will break the hair off. You can perm your hair but do it before you colour, however perming opens up the pores in the hair and allows it to take it more colour, so the colour will be brighter.

If your hair is losing it's 'charm' I would stop colouring. Leave the colour to grow out, let your hair go back to normal before you try dyeing again.

Don't ever do something to your image for someone else. Dye your hair for yourself, not for your fiance.

Dying your hair at home is fine, but it can often look better if a professional does it.

Hair problem :( help!?

My hair is badly damaged like 2 or 3 months ago. I got split ends everywhere and hair got tangled easily

And now my hair condition gets better and doesnt not tangled anymore as i use better conditioner now

It is really shiny but i still get split ends often but not everywhere.

Why is that so?

I m thinking to straighten my hair back as the hairdresser permed my hair really badly and he straigtened my hair again like 3 months ago but it wasn't straight. It looks like my hair is naturally curl and frizz . (I've really straight hair naturally)

Im desperate to get it straigten but im scared it will become really really badly damaged like last time

im not sure if my hair is still damaged now bcs i still get split ends often and frizz, but shiny hair and not tangled??

CHOICES:

1)Do you think i should get it permanent straightened??

2) use a straightener and straighten my hair 5 days per week

which choice do u think is better for my hair?

thanks for helping

Hair problem :( help!?

I've been a hairstylist for 16 years and I tell my clients all the time that, sometimes the best conditioner for hair is scissors. I think you should take a break from both options and just focus on getting it healthy. When it gets there, you may like it the way it is. If you don't cut split ends off, they just keep splitting all the way to the route and eventually it falls out. If you trim your hair, but aren't cutting off the whole split end, you are not preventing the splitting. I know it's hard to cut your hair, but over processing it isn't going to help it. I suggest cutting it into a style that you like and getting all the dryness out completely. If it's a lot of hair and you feel you can't cut it, just keep conditioning and trimming it religiously. I would go for the style that best suits you, by cutting it. Hair grows back, but you want it to be healthy. If it's not healthy right now, you will never get it to look the way you want it too.

Hair problem :( help!?

number 1 babe it takes to long to straighten your own hair, my hair is natually wavey, it takes like an hour to do it in the morning and thats with ghds, and that gives you really bad split ends.

Hair problem :( help!?

it's not good to straighten your hair with those machines it burns your hair and weakens it more so you should trim your hair and let it grow naturally...

Hair problem :( help!?

I would defenately straighten your hair everyday. Those chemicals are to harsh on your hair to do it ever year. If I were you I would straighten my hair (if you have a good quality straighener. I would recommend the CHI and the CHI heat protection spray. This way you won't fry your hair by going over your hair to many times and the heat protection deffintly decreases the split ends and doesn't fry your hair at all.

Hair problem :( help!?

Go get a hair cut (or if your brave do it yourself). If you dont trim split ends it will just keep splitting all the way up to your roots and then you would have to shave all your hair off. So the sooner you get it cut, the better.

Hair problem :( help!?

split ends cause split ends. that's why it's SO important to get regular trims (to keep the splits under control).

you don't need to flat iron it daily; nor do you need to shampoo every day. every other day to every third day is enough.

After that I had beauty treatment for my hair which included hair oil massage and some kind of hair pack. that time I had nice hair groth, but as I stoped that treatment again my hair fall started. though I got good result from that treatment I don't want to go for it as it was costly.

My hair's texture is much much better than before. But the only problem is thining of my hair and slow but continuous hair loss. If you have any home remedy or any tips regarding this then please help me.

Do I have to do any test for this problem? (I have no thyroid problem.)

How often you should do hair massage (in days/weeks/months)? If you are doing it daily will it cause in baldness?

Does low calcium can cause your hair to suffer?

Thanks to all those who will answer my questions.

Hair loss problem - need help ?

Nutrition is very important. Protein and B vitamins especially. Biotin is supposed to be good to support hair growth. I take that and and Omega 3/6/9 from GNC. I'm also currently trying hair supplements (Hairtopia) but I don't know if it works yet, I bought a Nioxin starter set at the recommendation of the receptionist at the salon. I don't know if that works yet either but all of these things have been recommended so I figure it can't hurt. (Although I think the Hairtopia may be making me break out.) A lot of people recommend prenatal vitamins but I think any vitamin is good and that its the pregnancy, not the vitamins that makes hair grow.

sound like a scary situation...you might wanna see a doc or professional. dont continue to add things to your hair , you could just be make the situation worse by loading it down with unatural items. try not to wash your hair everyday also it tends to strio the nessacery oils and make the hair weaker, and worse case senario ask around your family to see if any relitives had any similer probs. your best case is to just relax cause stress can also be a factor!
