Does Pubic Hair have a purpose?
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
its a hidden part of body and needs 4 perspiration.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
It comes from when we inhabited the sea. Even though the genitals were under the water you could tell whether or not somebody was sexually mature by the fact that they had hair growing under their arms.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
Yea, why? I would think that it is a leftover from our ancient ancestors, who were much hairier than we are due to needing it for warmth or something. We still need our head hair for that reason, but I don't think the rest is necessary. Sure would be easier for me if I didn't have to worry with the leg hair and pit hair, and some other I won't mention here. :)

To catch natural scent to make attractive to the opposite sex.
Never works though, if you stink no one likes you
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
Perspiration from the armpits is wet and clammy. The hair provides a holding point for the sweat to cling to so that it does not run down the side of your body.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
It's a scent trap. It holds our pheromones, to increase our opportunities to attract the opposite sex.
These days we have decided culturally that body odour is a bad thing, and seek to hide it. But in primitive times this would have been one of the major elements of sexual attractiveness.

Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
Hair grows in weak spots on various parts of the body.
It is there to protect.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
To capture sweat and provide an anti-friction barrier between the skin of your arms and body. We were once much more active than we are today. The hair is not as important in our calm, climate controlled, world anymore. Believe me, no one living in the Amazon basin of South America is shaving their armpits or genitalia.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
The same reason we have hair on our head and all over our bodies (except the palms of our hands and the soles of our feet) to keep us warm.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
Its to keep the heat in, in the warmest parts of our body, heat escapes most at your crotch your pits your head and the backs of your knees(not sure why theres none there then but still) and to prevent friction.
Why do we humans have underarm hair? What is the purpose of it being there?
Underam hair is important as it gives a place for useful bacteria to grow. It also protects a very sensitive area. The bacteria stop the area becoming sore and infected. They do cause a smell if you do not keep the area clean, though. This smell is not your sweat, it is a by product of the bacteria doing its job!
Contrary to popular belief, if you just keep yourself clean your armpits should n't smell, even if you sweat a lot.
People who shave their armpits will need to use more deodorant, not less. They will sometimes get soreness and little hanging warts because there will be less "good" bacteria.

Not sure of it's purpose but if you think about how scientists claim we descended from apes then we should be grateful we don't have it ALL OVER our bodies...yuk I'd hate that!!!
:D lol
