Im thinking about dying my hair from blonde to very dark???

So, I am naturally very blonde, and I have never put any highlights, color, or anything whatsoever in my hair. But, I'm 15 so my hair has gotten darker, as I've gotten older. Its just this dark blonde, dull color, and I'm tired of it. So, I want to either go blonder, or dark brown. But, I'm afraid that if I go dark, it just wont turn out right. I can't afford to have the salon do it, so what hair products out of the box would you reccomend? I would like someone to answer, who has colored their hair like this before. I'm really nervous to do it, but I eventually will, so I would like to be as educated as possible.

decide if your skin tone is cool, warm, or neutral and choose your hair color accordingly. some brands will tell you if the color is suitable for your skin tone.

Think VERY carefully about this. I'm a natural blonde and I dyed my hair black 4 years ago and now I'm stuck with it. You'd have to go to a salon over several visits and have your hair stripped, which will kill your hair and your wallet. Not to mention keeping up with your roots is a major pain in the butt. I really don't think it's worth it. I would recommend just putting some highlights or accents of some kind in your hair if you want to change it up. Good luck!

as a stylist, i would recomend you not going darker. sounds to me like you are a nice hair color and alll you need are some highlights to give it that sun kissed look :-)

Dye it blonde again because if you dye it dark brown the blonde regrowth will make it look really horrible.

I have hair just like yours. I am also naturally blonde, but it get's dull if I don't put some sort of product in it. I wouldn't go darker! It's so rare to be a natural blonde and it might never get back to its natural shade! What i did was I bought a bottle of sun-in and i blow-dried it into my hair a few times a week to give me some highlights. Then i used a natural, ammonia free hair-dye called Natural Match. It was only five dollars, and it works great to enhance your natural color.

I am a natural blonde also, and my hair got darker as I got older, espically after I had kids. So, when I was pregnant with my last daughter I had it cut short and spikey in the back and I color it burgandy...I LOVE it and it only takes a few minutes to fix...But I really like the color after being blonde for so many years...

my hair went that dull blonde colour and i dyed it dark red with subtle purple streaks in it... it looks amazing!!! im sooo glad i got it done!!! :) done worry about how it will look im sure it will be great ;)

I wouldn't go more than a couple shades darker than you are naturally, especially if you are going to do it yourself. The problem comes when it starts to grow out and you have to keep it up or you decide to go back to blonde and then you need a pro to strip out the color and correct you, which costs a fortune.

I've been a Cosmetologist for almost 10 years. Whatever you do dont go drastically darker you will regret it, it will be shocking, then you will HAVE to get color correction and it costs a GRIP of money to correct something like that. Im not sure about products in the store the names exactly but i know you should go darker step by step read the back of the box. Im use to professional products. But anyways, if you want low lights or high lights use the one in the box at the store that comes with that little comb, Im sure you've seen the commercials on tv. blond highlights would be good or low lights. which is a shade darker than what you have now or maybe two shades at the most, but its intwined with your natural color, so it wont be shocking. k :)

I dont know much about hair dying but I think u would look great with brown hair. Dont make it 2 dark though. I would look up on google stuff about hair products and dying hair. Im only 13 so I dont know how people at ur school would act. It may seem like it looks wierd at first but u will probobly get used 2 it.

Do you have a Sally's Beauty supply store nearby? They are great and will assist you in the correct products for you to buy. Or, you could just buy a wig, at a wig store and wear it for a while and see if you like yourself in dark hair before you commit to dying it, You can get a half way decent wig for $20.00. I did that once. I sometimes wear my wig when I want to have dark brown hair. The thing about dying your hair of course is the roots, they pop out every 3-4 weeks and you need to do it again, after a while it does start to take a tole on your hait. I used color gels myself, but I did get tired of the maintenance. Try a wig first if you got 20-30 bucks,

I hear you, but if you want to liven up your color I suggest something like Natural Instincts (a semi-permanent color) within a shade or two of your natural color. Gold colors will brighten it up, ash colors will soften it. It really will make a difference.

I agree with the other posters--I think you will be sorry if you try to darken it much. If it turns out bad, it could easily cost you $100 to fix it, and even then, it will need to grow out to get back to your healthy/natural hair.

Try a subtle, wash-out color fix first before you go for any big change.

I've colored my hair many times. black, blonde, dark brown, blue, you name it! if you have really light skin, id recommend going lighter, to a lighter blonde. if you have tan-ish skin, go darker like brown. not dark brown though, maybe a light brown. it will look different than your blonde now, because it will all be one new color. bc if u dont like the darkness of it, it will be hard to get back to light! oh and where to find products.... go to any local small stores, like a CVS or rite-aid, or target, walmart.
