I'm a stylist. Coloring your hair is perfectly fine. If you are afraid of it damaging your hair, ask your stylist to use a DEMI PERMANENT color on your hair. It has no harsh chemicals and will last for 4-6 weeks and leave no "roots" showing. or at least it shouldn't. If you like having the permanent color it can be applied every 6 weeks or so depending on how fast your hair grows. Most color should add volume to your hair not decrease it. Hair color does not create hair loss. Hair loss comes from genes or stress. Color may dry out your hair but if you get conditioner that is good for your hair or even a protein pack from Sally's Beauty Supply it will strengthen your hair right back up. You can color your hair about 6 times a year or more depending on your hair texture. What do you mean that a bit of charm has disappeared? If your hair is still healthy and beautiful then there is nothing wrong with coloring it. And finally yes.. go to a professional to get color. The ingredients in box color range anything from propane to acrylic (which is used to create "fake" fingernails) Good luck and i hope this advice helps!!!

I am not a hair stylist or hairdresser but I colour my hair. Colouring your hair makes it dry unless you use conditioners on it and often. Colouring doesn't necessarily break your hair but you should never bleach on top of bleach because it will break the hair off. You can perm your hair but do it before you colour, however perming opens up the pores in the hair and allows it to take it more colour, so the colour will be brighter.

If your hair is losing it's 'charm' I would stop colouring. Leave the colour to grow out, let your hair go back to normal before you try dyeing again.

Don't ever do something to your image for someone else. Dye your hair for yourself, not for your fiance.

Dying your hair at home is fine, but it can often look better if a professional does it.

Hair problem :( help!?

My hair is badly damaged like 2 or 3 months ago. I got split ends everywhere and hair got tangled easily

And now my hair condition gets better and doesnt not tangled anymore as i use better conditioner now

It is really shiny but i still get split ends often but not everywhere.

Why is that so?

I m thinking to straighten my hair back as the hairdresser permed my hair really badly and he straigtened my hair again like 3 months ago but it wasn't straight. It looks like my hair is naturally curl and frizz . (I've really straight hair naturally)

Im desperate to get it straigten but im scared it will become really really badly damaged like last time

im not sure if my hair is still damaged now bcs i still get split ends often and frizz, but shiny hair and not tangled??

CHOICES:

1)Do you think i should get it permanent straightened??

2) use a straightener and straighten my hair 5 days per week

which choice do u think is better for my hair?

thanks for helping

Hair problem :( help!?

I've been a hairstylist for 16 years and I tell my clients all the time that, sometimes the best conditioner for hair is scissors. I think you should take a break from both options and just focus on getting it healthy. When it gets there, you may like it the way it is. If you don't cut split ends off, they just keep splitting all the way to the route and eventually it falls out. If you trim your hair, but aren't cutting off the whole split end, you are not preventing the splitting. I know it's hard to cut your hair, but over processing it isn't going to help it. I suggest cutting it into a style that you like and getting all the dryness out completely. If it's a lot of hair and you feel you can't cut it, just keep conditioning and trimming it religiously. I would go for the style that best suits you, by cutting it. Hair grows back, but you want it to be healthy. If it's not healthy right now, you will never get it to look the way you want it too.

Hair problem :( help!?

number 1 babe it takes to long to straighten your own hair, my hair is natually wavey, it takes like an hour to do it in the morning and thats with ghds, and that gives you really bad split ends.

Hair problem :( help!?

it's not good to straighten your hair with those machines it burns your hair and weakens it more so you should trim your hair and let it grow naturally...

Hair problem :( help!?

I would defenately straighten your hair everyday. Those chemicals are to harsh on your hair to do it ever year. If I were you I would straighten my hair (if you have a good quality straighener. I would recommend the CHI and the CHI heat protection spray. This way you won't fry your hair by going over your hair to many times and the heat protection deffintly decreases the split ends and doesn't fry your hair at all.

Hair problem :( help!?

Go get a hair cut (or if your brave do it yourself). If you dont trim split ends it will just keep splitting all the way up to your roots and then you would have to shave all your hair off. So the sooner you get it cut, the better.

Hair problem :( help!?

split ends cause split ends. that's why it's SO important to get regular trims (to keep the splits under control).

you don't need to flat iron it daily; nor do you need to shampoo every day. every other day to every third day is enough.

I am 24 year old girl and I am having this problem since I had malaria 5yers ago. After that I had beauty treatment for my hair which included hair oil massage and some kind of hair pack. that time I had nice hair groth, but as I stoped that treatment again my hair fall started. though I got good result from that treatment I don't want to go for it as it was costly.

My hair's texture is much much better than before. But the only problem is thining of my hair and slow but continuous hair loss. If you have any home remedy or any tips regarding this then please help me.

Do I have to do any test for this problem? (I have no thyroid problem.)

How often you should do hair massage (in days/weeks/months)? If you are doing it daily will it cause in baldness?

Does low calcium can cause your hair to suffer?

Thanks to all those who will answer my questions.

Hair loss problem - need help ?

Nutrition is very important. Protein and B vitamins especially. Biotin is supposed to be good to support hair growth. I take that and and Omega 3/6/9 from GNC. I'm also currently trying hair supplements (Hairtopia) but I don't know if it works yet, I bought a Nioxin starter set at the recommendation of the receptionist at the salon. I don't know if that works yet either but all of these things have been recommended so I figure it can't hurt. (Although I think the Hairtopia may be making me break out.) A lot of people recommend prenatal vitamins but I think any vitamin is good and that its the pregnancy, not the vitamins that makes hair grow.

Hair loss problem - need help ?

sound like a scary situation...you might wanna see a doc or professional. dont continue to add things to your hair , you could just be make the situation worse by loading it down with unatural items. try not to wash your hair everyday also it tends to strio the nessacery oils and make the hair weaker, and worse case senario ask around your family to see if any relitives had any similer probs. your best case is to just relax cause stress can also be a factor!

Damaged dyed hair, scared about hair falling out, and hair feels like straw.?

okay you guys, just help the poor old me out,

i just want my hair to feel soft again.

i blow dry it.

and only occasionally put stying stuff in my hair.

just tell me how i need to take care of my hair.

(did i mention that the only part of my hair that is dyed is the bottom layer of hair, the top layer is natural.)

p.s. when i dyed it, my hair was already bleached, by my mom put the other, um, activator stuff in it anyway, to lift my color although it wasn't in there, but we took it off too soon, so we had to reapply it again and left it on for like a half an hour, which was like twice what were were supposed to, or what i thought, (but she's the cosmotologist) so if there are any professionals this might tell you why my hair feels like straw,.

what products do you suggest, not like walmart brands, but like the real stuff, and how should i be taking care of my hair?

since my mom isn't practicing her cosmotology days anymore and i'm at a lost of what i really should do.

Damaged dyed hair, scared about hair falling out, and hair feels like straw.?

Massage aloe Vera gel over the scalp, leave it for about one hour. After this rinse the hair with warm water. It gives excellent results for hair loss if one uses this massage at least 3-4 times a week. Check out

Bad hair problems!~SOS!?

currently, my hair is this:

(in ponytail)

when i wash my hair %26amp; dried, it's like this:

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/959/p...

I am asian, i have naturally black hair, my hair got layered 2 times in the past two years and i ususally straighten my hair (ceramic). i usually tie my hair up.

what can i do to fix these problems for a long time? i'm tired of my poofy hair. (actually, my botttom layers are okay, it's just my top layers. the ends are poofy). i get tired of using the straightener alot-its bad for hair, anyways. my goal is to get straight, shiny and sleek hair.

help please!

Bad hair problems!~SOS!?

Keeping your layers will stop the bulk/weight of your hair, the more layers, the less bulk/weight there is making it in your words less poofy.

Use Redken shampoo %26amp; Conditioner for dry hair, this will add essential oils back into your hair to calm it down to make it less poofy.

Also get some olive oil smooth over damp hair pull hair up ontop of your head %26amp; place cling film around the hair only like a turben.

put the dryer on it while wrapped for 3 mins afterwards rinse off with warm water not hot.

Bad hair problems!~SOS!?

Buy a protective straightening iron spray- They have them at most salons. Keep layering to repair your hair. A simple relaxer can help with the poofy, or even a good leave in conditioner. Stay away from balms, I think they look gross.

Bad hair problems!~SOS!?

i am asian too..

try applying mousse after taking a bath then blow dry it..

don't air dry ur hair ok,it's bad for the hair...always blowdry when wet but not too hot bec. u'll damage it..(Then u can iron it,don't iron one sopt for too long)

try applying baby lotion (this is a celebrity secret) on your hair to make it sleek...

try not to use pony tail too much too coz when u take it off, there's like that wavy spot in the middle that shows

Bad hair problems!~SOS!?

With your ethnicity its a easy thing trust me. I am a white girl with really curly hair. I wish I could get my hair permanently straightened and well you can cause of your thick hair. It wont fry like mine will. Just talk to all the salons in your area and see what the price range is for your hair length. It can cost allot so don't get shocked there. But in the long run it will help with the split ends and then there is less time to fix it.

Scene hair - does hair type matter?

I have very thick, somewhat wavy, dark hair that is slash layered and about to my shoulders now. I'm loving the scene hair i'm seeing everywhere but I'm not sure if it suits my hair type. I can certainly and very easily get the bushy scene look with my hair because of the thickness and body but I don't want hair that looks like a bad mullet. Because I am a professional as well, I'd like to know that it will tame down for more professional occasions.

I may be too old for that look (I'm in my mid 20s) but I look quite young and i believe i can get away with it easily. My hair is thick but is shiny and slippery, styles easily and doesn't tend to frizz unless it's all tied back tight. i know my face shape, body type and style can take the look but can my hair??

So does anyone with thick, wavy hair find the scene look works for them?

Scene hair - does hair type matter?

What is scene hair? I think you are not getting answers, because no one is sure what hairstyle you are talking about.

Scene hair - does hair type matter?

My hair's kind of wavey, but I just straighten it out and it looks fine.

Scene hair - does hair type matter?

That sounds like how my hair used to be.

After thinning it out a lot and getting the layers and straightening my hair, I got the scene hairstyle.

But, if you already have the layers and don't want to get a new cut, you can just straighten your bangs (if you have any) and your top layer or hair. You can also use curling gel to turn your unstraightened waves into curls.

These are just a few suggestions, they should work with your hair, since they work with mine.

Experiment!

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Ok so about three years ago I made a stupid decision. I decided to straighten and dye my hair. When I say straighten I mean I straightened my hair everydayfor about 1 year and half, plus dyed my hair a lot. This caused my hair SERIOUS damage. My hair would not grow. I decided to get a hair cut because my hair was so chemically damaged. I cut my hair to my shoulders. And I stopped straightening my hair; I still had my dyed hair though so I decided to get it dyed my natural color so I won't keep on damaging and dying it. Ok so ALL this damage caused my hair not to grow, I'm still suffering with my hair. My hair has grown about 4-5 inches from my shoulders though. I havn't cut hair in 4-5 months. My hair looks all frizzy, and sh*tty right now; I seriously don't know what to do. Should I get a hair cut again? Or what could I do?

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Get it cut every 3-4 weeks to avoid the split ends from further fraying. I would suggest using a salon quality shampoo/conditioner. Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture and Super Strong are good lines. So are Biolage Hydratherapie and Fortatherapie. If you are blowdrying your hair I would suggest using Quick Slip by Paul Mitchell, or Chi Silk Infusion, they are both conditioning and not drying like other smoothing balms. A deep conditioner that would be good to try is Sebastian 2+1, I have triple processed hair and it is baby soft with these products.

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Well, if you have split ends then cut it. If you don't then don't. Buy a good leave in conditioner, and some shampoo for dry/damaged hair. This will help loads. You can also get some treatments for your hair.

Oh yeah, and there are some vitamins and shampoo that help hair growth. Massaging the scalp also helps.

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Last resort would be shaving it i guess :/ You could be bald and beautiful :P

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Definitely cut it again if it's frizzy and damaged, because even though it may be long you don't want long damaged hair because that just damages the hair at your roots.

Don't dye your hair anymore for sure. Get a good conditioner for damaged hair (I suggest Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle) and try going without shampooing your hair as many days as possible. To get rid of the frizz for now, try a smoothing serum like Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny, Biosilk, or even John Frieda.

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Cut it, I did it and it was worth it! + don't dye it anymore. Dye ruins the roots and the tips! Anyways, natural colored hair is more beautiful!

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Cut one inch off. Just do a little bit at a time. This way you still have long ish hair. Dont straighten it and why dont you try a hot oil treatment. Or go to a professional and get a very deep conditioner. Good luck!

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

I think you should get a profesional opinion from a stylist. I wouldn't get it cut if it is not going to grow anymore

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

I hate to say it your hair will be like that till all of the damaged hair is out. So you will have to cut all the damaged hair off.

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

just be nice to it it cant b THAT bad just keep cutting the spilt ends and conditioning lots ur hair doesnt just stop growing. dont worry wait it out and you'll have beautiful hair again. i had a friend who straightened her hair for a year with an actual iron and decided to shave it completely off and now its grown back she has GORGEOUS hair.

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Don't cut it all off!! Just trim it once a month and deep condition weekly!!

I basically have the same kind of hair, and i guess you could say i'm on the road to recovery too!!! :)

My hair looks like sh*t right now!?

Get a pixie cut and grow it out.
